Sarah Fletcher Whitcomb

Sarah Fletcher was born October 31, 1814, at Montreal, Quebec, Canada, to Revolutionary War Private Isaac Fletcher and his wife Ruth Pierce.  She married Elias Whitcomb on October 4, 1835. Besides her father, she had five brothers who took part in the Revolutionary War. Her mother was  a first cousin to Franklin Pierce, the 14th President of the United States. Sarah died January 17, 1901, in Red Oak, Iowa, and is buried at Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa. She was a member of the Deborah Avery Chapter. This chapter dedicated a marker on her grave October 19, 1926.
