About Us
Reavis-Ashley Chapter was organized January 9, 1912, with a membership of 29, nine of whom were resident members. The chapter was scarcely on its feet when World War I broke out, but, along with all the other organizations active in the war effort, the Reavis-Ashley Chapter members helped with relief work and other activities concerning the war.
The chapter has been very active in supporting Nebraska Society and National Society projects, along with providing assistance in the members’ local communities. Reavis-Ashley Chapter has also helped to create local interest in genealogical research, with members who are active in the Tri-County Genealogical Society, the Brownsville Historical Society, the Nemaha County, and the Kansas Historical Society.
Reavis-Ashley Chapter participates in the National Society’s American History Essay Contest, and honors the chapter’s winners, their families, and teachers, with a tea in February.
Our membership is drawn from a number of localities, not just Falls City: Humboldt, Steinauer, and Stella, Nebraska; Seneca and Bern, Kansas; and Forest City, Missouri.
